Most couples comparing wedding venues in Knoxville, TN are really choosing between two kinds of wedding. One is a celebration in the city, where guests drive in and head home or to a hotel afterward. The other is a full weekend away, where everyone stays in one place. This guide looks at three well-known wedding locations near Knoxville, two in the city and one in the mountains, and the questions that help you pick.
A quick note on who is writing. We run Tremont Lodge & Resort in Townsend, so ours is the venue we can describe in detail. We have not hosted events at the other two. What we say about them is general and comes from what they share publicly, so contact them directly for specifics.

City venue or mountain weekend: how to choose
Six questions settle it for most couples.
- Where will your guests sleep? In town, guests book hotels and arrange rides. At a lodge, they walk back to their rooms.
- One day or a whole weekend? A day venue fits a ceremony and reception. A resort gives you room for a rehearsal dinner the night before and time around the firepits after.
- Where do most guests live? If most are in Knoxville, an in-town venue is an easy drive. If many are flying or driving in, they need rooms either way.
- What is the rain plan? Ask every venue to show you its indoor option. Ours is the Spruce Room.
- What is included? Ask about access hours, tables, chairs, linens and staffing, and get it in writing.
- Can you bring your own vendors? Policies differ, so ask each venue for its vendor rules before you book.
